Limerick native Louise met the love of her life Cathal while living in Australia five years ago. The pair instantly clicked, and it wasn’t long before Cathal began making plans for the perfect proposal. Sunny Brisbane was the setting for their engagement and would also set the scene for their dream wedding day. A wedding date was set for September 2, 2017 for their dream wedding destination- Portugal’s stunning Algarve Coast.

Sharing the day with the bride and groom in the bridal party were Ciara Burns, Breeda O’Driscoll Michelle Bennett, Elaine Fitzgerald, Garry Mcgrath, Ciaran Canavan, Shane Canavan and Paul McCrystal.

The venue chosen, No Solo Agua, was just the piece of paradise that Louise and Cathal wanted to share with their loved ones on their special day. Algarve wedding planners Amelia and Jane looked after the planning from Portugal, something that Louise and Cathal were delighted they invested in. “Nothing was ever too much and they couldn’t have made my day any easier it was a breeze planning my wedding as they took care of everything. There is nothing they haven’t covered.”

How did you decide that The Algarve was the destination for you?

After living in Australia I knew I wanted summer weather for my wedding and there was no way I was risking Ireland’s constant rain and I had always dreamt of a beach wedding. The Algarve is also stunning, with amazing food and is not too far from home”, the bride shares.

DESTINATION WEDDING

THE PRO’S “The beautiful weather, stunning backdrop for photos and having all your close family and friends together for a holiday of a lifetime.”

THE CONS “The only bad point would be that some people couldn’t travel as it was too far.”

DOING IT RIGHT- THE TIPS

“Travel out for a weekend before you decide on the venue and know that you love it before the wedding day. Make sure that you like and trust your wedding planner as you need someone good helping you over there. I would definitely recommend Unique and Chic weddings- they had all the dealings with the suppliers and helped us with our every need.”

Would you recommend a destination wedding?

“Yes, totally it was the best decision we have ever made.  It was the best wedding and best holiday with all our friends and family and created the most amazing memories,” Louise shares.
