Michelle Harrison and Ralph McMahon were first acquainted at a very young age in junior infants at school and would re- unite again some year’s later. “We knew each other as teenagers but then went our separate ways. We met again at our friend’s 30th birthday party. Ralph asked for my number, we went on a date and have been together ever since”, the bride said.

The charismatic caricaturist who is very popular with wedding couples in Limerick decided to pop the question on Paddy’s weekend while in Killarney for the weekend with Michelle. “Ralph had planned that we would go to the Torc Waterfall but the weather was awful the same day, so we didn’t end up going. There was a change of plan and he proposed at the hotel instead. Ralph left the room to get some ‘ice’. I heard the doorbell ring and went to answer it. Ralph was there on one knee, with a bottle of champagne and a ring! I nearly passed out as it was a total surprise. Obviously, I said yes and we had a brilliant weekend,” Michelle recalls.

A wedding day was set for September 30, 2017 with a St Johns Church followed by a reception at Bunratty Manor Hotel. The couple were accompanied by the beautiful Stacy McCabe and the handsome Damian Mescall throughout the wedding day.

Memorable moments

“We loved our Church ceremony. It was really relaxed with a touch of humour, which put us all at ease. We also loved meeting all our friends and family outside Durty Nellies after our photos. The sun was shining and everyone was in great form,” Michelle said.

Personal touches

“We decided to get personalised bottles of beer for our guests with our caricature, done by Ralph, on the front from Western Herd Brewing. We also hired a selfie mirror as entertainment for the night from Thomas at Hireaphootobooth.ie based in Galway. This was great craic and we have the pics to prove it! We also had a life size caricature cut-out of ourselves which proved to be a hit on the night,” the bride shares.
