Maura Cronin & Con O’Connor’s local wedding day consisted of a ceremony in St. Ita’s Church in Feenagh, followed by a reception in the Listowel Arms Hotel. Having gotten engaged in July 2017, and the wedding date set for December 23, 2017, Maura took on the daring bridal challenge of planning her special day in less than six months. “Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year, and we were so lucky we opted for it as it meant my brother and Con’s sister could make it home from New Zealand and Australia for the day and for the festive season,” Maura explains.

In lieu of traditional wedding transport, Maura’s sister and maid of honour Caitríona drove her and her father to the church in the bride’s own car. The bride’s brother Liam and friend Deirdre both sang during the couple’s ceremony, while her mother was the talent behind  creating their wedding cake. Both Maura and Con both recall their first dance as a particular highlight. “We just love to dance, and to do so as husband and wife surrounded by all of our loved ones at Christmas was just the best feeling in the world,” Maura recalls fondly.

How was your experience with Listowel Arms Hotel?

“From the moment we walked into the Listowel Arms Hotel, we knew it was a strong contender for our wedding with its warmth and cosiness and we just felt at home straight away. Patrice and her calm but on-point questions and ideas made it so easy for us to plan the perfect day. As the wedding was so close to Christmas, we wanted to give the festive season a nod without going overboard, and Patrice and her team did just that. From a mulled wine and hot drinks reception to a candle-lit walkway with a Christmas arch, it was everything we dreamed of and more. We treasure the welcome we got at the hotel when we arrived and the photo we took outside is one of our favourites. The hotel staff were amazing and kept everything running like clockwork, and the barmen even joined in with our sing-song. Plus, the toasted-sandwiches which were served at 3am are still being talked about among guests!”
