Danieka McNamara and John Carroll are both Limerick natives but crossed paths for the first time in Spain over a decade ago. John popped the question in Iceland, under the notoriously romantic Seljalandsfoss Waterfall while the couple were watching the Northern Lights. They opted for a summer wedding with the date set for June 8, 2018 and both the reception and outdoor ceremony at Castlemartyr Resort.

 Special moments

Danieka fondly recalls when she saw her outdoor ceremony for the first time. “When I finally walked under the arch and through the guard of honour to see my ceremony all set up, I remember turning my head and looking down, catching my first glimpse of John and all our guests. It was breath-taking, after months of imagining the scene and finally seeing it was magical and everything I had dreamed of,” Danieka reveals.

John’s stand out moment was the couple’s unique choice to have pipes playing as they entered their reception, performed by their talented friend who doubles as a military bagpiper. “We then shared a shot of whiskey with the piper around our table, this being an Irish Army tradition. It felt very personal and special,” John says.

The couple also loved sharing their day with their daughter Analeigh, who was their beautiful flower girl.

 Personal touches

To implement their personal touch into their day, the couple personally made their table place number cards and confetti cones filled with lavender petals from their garden. Danieka also recalls their unique hand fasting ceremony as a significant addition, as the ribbon they used also incorporated their daughter Analeigh. “We each picked a different colour ribbon and I plaited them together. I tied three keys to the end of the ribbons which symbolised our little family. Having our daughter by our side on our wedding day was so special for us,” she says.

How was your experience with Chantilly Lace Bridesmaid Boutique ?

“I cannot praise Emma of Chantilly Lace enough. She went above and beyond to help me in every way. Every time we visited, Emma made us feel so special and was so helpful when choosing colours and styles.”
