Doctor Denise McMahon and Electrical Contractor Richard Power both hail from Limerick and met on a night out almost a decade ago. As their relationship went from strength to strength, Richard popped the question during Easter 2017. “The proposal happened at Richard’s farm where we always walk our dog Darcy. Richard got down on one knee on the top of the hill, with Darcy kneeling beside! Turns out he had bought a ring while we were in Cape Town in South Africa a few weeks earlier and was terrified that he would have to take it out in security and propose to me in the airport,” Denise reveals. Following that, October 27, 2018 was set as the wedding date with a ceremony in St. Kohn the Baptist Church in Hospital, Limerick followed by a reception in the Dunraven Arms Hotel in Adare.

Memorable moments

Both Denise and Richard recall the bride walking up the aisle as the highlight of their day. “I loved walking up the aisle with my dad and seeing Richard at the top. I was really excited to see the church flowers and hear the music and see all our friends and family, so I really enjoyed taking all of that in as I was walking up the aisle, and of course seeing Richard was the best part,” Denise recalls fondly. Richard also notes this has his favourite part of the day, as well as the newlyweds’ arrival at their reception.

Personal touches

The couple opted to take their wedding day photos in Richard’s home which they really appreciated as personal and sentimental touch. “It was lovely as we knew our surrounding, and it meant we could have our dog Darcy in some of the photos. Richard gave me Darcy as a present six years ago so it was lovely to include her in some of the pictures too,” Denise adds.

How was your experience with Baker Photography?

“Kenneth was very professional both on the build-up to the wedding and on the day itself. He had fantastic ideas for photos, and was so enthusiastic. We had an engagement shoot with him which was a great way for us all to get to know each other. He was so calm and put everyone at ease on the day, but was really organised and efficient too and we felt so relaxed with him as our photographer. We love all the photographs, and the hardest part was having to choose which ones to put in our album out of all the lovely pictures. We would highly recommend Kenneth.”
