It was the luxurious Listowel Arms Hotel which ticked all the boxes for Sheila Scanlon and Colin Carmody’s dream wedding day. The pair’s dream day began with a ceremony in St. Brigid’s Church in Duagh and was followed up by an incredible reception in the award winning venue. Bridie Shine, Lee Anne Scanlon and Marian Fitzgerald were bridesmaids while Don Carmody, John Carmody and Kieran Murphy took the roles of groomsmen.
Both the bride and groom recall arriving at the church as a particularly special memory. “That feeling of ‘It’s finally here’ and seeing Collin’s reaction when I was walking up the aisle was amazing,” Sheila recalls fondly. Sheila advises future brides to be to “remember that the day is about you and your partner, so do it your way and try not to get too stressed”.
It was their loved ones’ special touches which made the day even more special, as the groom’s niece was the master behind the delicious confectionary while the bride’s cousin doubled as her photographer. Having lived in London, the pair personalised their day further by have a mixture of the English capital’s tube stops as well as local place names in the table plan.
How was your experience with Listowel Arms Hotel?
“I honestly cannot thank Patrice and the fantastic team at Listowel Arms Hotel enough for all of their work. They did an outstanding job. I didn’t know what I wanted at our first meeting and Patrice encouraged us to really put our own stamp on the venue for the day. The staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. The food is always great at the Listowel Arms and they did not disappoint on our day.”
