Something old, New, borrowed and Blue..

By Emma Doran
Its one of those traditions that every bride loves searching for that something old, something new, borrowed and blue. Although the dress is mainly the something new, people have become very creative and sentimental in all other categories. We asked our Brides of Limerick family to share with us their something old, new, borrowed and blue.

Caroline Murphy chose a picture of her late father as her something old, printed as material and stitched inside her dress right beside her heart. Her something borrowed was her mothers bracelet.

Michelle McGrath borrowed a diamond pendant from her mum. She had vintage sunglasses as her something old and she attached her birdcage veil to a blue comb in her hair.

Loraine Higgins attached her late grandmothers locket to her flowers. This served as her something old.

Carmel Whyte
chose her grandmothers wedding ring as her something old and her new was her dress. Her borrowed item was a necklace from her sister-in-law and her blue was her wedding garter.

Susan Nash borrowed a pair of rosary beads that her mother received on her first holy communion. Her old item was a pair of earrings she got as a young girl and she wore blue shoes.

Mary O Dwyer
borrowed a five euro note from her brother minutes before her wedding because she forgot about it. It had a blue European flat on it so it covered the blue too.

Fran Brennan borrowed her wedding dress from her cousin in England. Her something new was her wedding ring. Her something old was a picture of herself and her sister who passed away the year before the wedding.

Karen Moynihan O Dwyer combined her something old and borrowed into one. She used the same Winston Churchill silver coin that her parents used on their wedding day.

Niamh Maguire Sheehan chose her Jimmy Choo shoes as her something new. Her something old was the first ever love letter her boyfriend wrote to her when they were 14 – she pinned it to the hem of her dress. She borrowed her silver wedding bag from her best friend and her something blue was her underwear.
