The idea that Limerick should encourage more stag and hen nights to occur has been met with a lot of disapproval. Failte Ireland s new chair Michael Cawley
has suggested that Limerick should become a hub for stag and hen parties and
that this could be good for the city.  He
claims that Newcastle has done really
well from stag parties
and that there
is a lesson to be learned there.
Many people, including an incensed Tony
Brazil of the Shannon Conference and Sports Bureau, agree that Limerick has a
bad enough reputation on its own without being compared to the likes of
Newcastle. Brazil states the last thing we
need is vomit on the streets.
Many in opposition to Cawley s idea suggest
that Failte Ireland s view of the city is poor and that they should be building
on its reputation, not tearing it down further.

A moment of misery turned to delight for newlyweds Joanne Nesbitt & Stephen
Whelehan
after their wedding rings and Joanne s engagement ring had been
left in a taxi on the day of their wedding ceremony. It seemed as though they
were gone forever, fortunately for them a very truthful taxi driver returned
the rings to the couple as soon as he found out who the rightful owners were. He found the rings four hours after we got
out of the taxi on Friday and he had been asking around. But he was on Facebook
and searched online and found posts about the rings and got in touch
. The
bride s mother gave her daughter her own wedding ring for use during the
ceremony in lieu of the intended rings, this made the ceremony even more
meaningful. The happy couple were planning a second, more extravagant wedding
day in Portugal so the original rings were put to use after all.

In other news, this Wednesday September
21st married women of Ireland donned
their wedding dresses to raise money for bowel cancer research
. In an
initiative launched by Today FM called Dare
to Care
, women all over Ireland wore their wedding dresses while going
about their regular Wednesday routine. Some unmarried women even got involved,
borrowing dresses from bridal shops for the day to show their support for the
cause. The brains behind the initiative, Shauna O Reilly from the Ian Dempsey
breakfast show, is blown away by the support I thought it would be brilliant to get one or two women to do it but
the reaction was just massive, it has completely blown me away
. Shauna s
father suffers from the disease so it is extremely close to her heart and it is
a cause that is definitely worth a few odd looks in the office.

We all love a romantic gesture, but
unsuspecting Orla Gallagher from
Waterford was in for the surprise of her life
when her boyfriend, James
Barry, decided to propose. Planning for four weeks prior, James enlisted sand
artist Sean Corcoran to write Orla, will
you marry me?
In an enormous heart on stradbally cove, co. Waterford. He
also managed to get the city of Waterford Brass Band to march around the heart
playing Matrimony by Gilbert O Sullivan as the question was revealed. I am still in shock, my hands are shaking,
Orla told The Irish Independent. She couldn’t believe what was happening, but
delightedly said yes to the love of her life.

Everybody has their own opinion when it
comes to the Angelina Jolie and Brad
Pitt
split, but most of us are still in shock that the pair have even
separated. The couple, who met on the set of Mr & Mrs Smith, were together
for 12 years and have 6 children. While there are many rumours going around
about what irreconcilable differences entails
in this case, the most prominent theory is that Brad is suffering from
substance abuse issues and that Angelina wants to protect their kids. Many
Celebrities have voiced their opinions, Chrissy Teigen tweeted Brad and Angelina…how am I supposed to go
to work today?,
while Adele dedicated her NYC concert to the pair, stating
to the audience I have to address the
elephant in the room…but it is the end of an era.
The most upsetting
celebrity reaction had to be that of the couple s close friend, George Clooney.
Clooney found out the news while attending the Leaders Summit For Refugees at
the United Nations. During a CNN interview, a reporter asked him his thoughts
on the split, What happened? I didn’t
know that. I feel very sorry then. That is a sad story and unfortunate for a
family. It is an unfortunate story about a family. I feel very sorry to hear
that
. We agree with George, shocking news.

In
other, less devastating, wedding news, TIME
magazine have created a compatibility chart
to figure out if your college
course choice decides the type of person you will end up marrying. I for one
cannot imagine myself married to a poetry student, but who knows? Try it for
yourself here   http://time.com/4497291/college-degree-major-love-marriage/
