London native Ellie Horton and Limerick man Ian McNamara first met when they were both working in Toronto almost a decade ago. The couple now live and work in Liverpool but Ireland remains very dear to their hearts. In 2016 Ian proposed to Ellie at Cratloe woods in Co. Clare, during their Christmas break in Ireland. The wedding date was set to June 29, 2018 and The Clayton Hotel, Limerick chosen as the dream venue for the couple.

 Memorable moments

it’s hard to select one memorable moment as the whole day was enjoyable and stress-free, but the phenomenal weather stands out as particularly amazing to them. “We were so lucky with the weather – it was the hottest day in Ireland for 40 years and the staff at The Clayton made the most of this for us! The dinner and ceremony were hosted in the Pegasus Suite, which has a balcony that surrounded the entire room and overlooked the River Shannon. So all the guests enjoyed the beautiful weather and watched the incredible sunset while partying into the early hours,” Ellie reveals.

 Personal touches

Ellie recalls the fact that both the cake and photographs were supplied by family friends, as it added more of a personal significance to their day. “Ian’s mother also put together unique and personal wedding favours, gathered a collection of fun props for guests to take pictures with and even made 130 Tayto Sandwich packs so our guests could have a late-night snack after the celebrations,” Ellie adds.

How was your experience with The Clayton Hotel Limerick?

“We could not have asked for more from The Clayton. The Events Manager Elaine was absolutely phenomenal. At every point she made the experience so personal and special. The Pegasus Suite reception with a balcony, the service, food, décor and guest rooms were all beyond expectations. The penthouse with champagne breakfast made the whole day so memorable. We decided to have our photographs taken in the penthouse as it had the most incredible views of Limerick and we could not have asked for a better backdrop than that. We wish we could do the whole thing again and would absolutely recommend the Clayton as a wedding location.”
