Tara Jane O’Connor and Brendan Hamilton first met in 1993 when Brendan was a university student and Tara Jane was in school. “We were very much inseparable, like two peas in a pod,” Brendan says. The two temporarily diverged when Tara Jane moved to Spain and Brendan began travelling with his job abroad, but fate reunited the pair a decade later. Romance soon followed and the couple were engaged in June 2005. However, it took the couple another decade to finally walk down the aisle, with a wedding on June 9, 2018 in St. John’s church, followed by the reception in the Castle Oaks Hotel.

Memorable moments

Tara Jane remembers the initial excitement she felt in the morning , and says she really treasures the entire getting-ready experience. The pair both recall the ceremony as a highlight. “I will never forget my arrival at the church, the brilliant church music, seeing the beautiful flower arrangements and décor, and seeing all of our smiling guests,” Tara Jane says. Brendan adds that seeing his bride walk down the aisle was particularly special for him.

How was your experience with the Castle Oaks Hotel?

“We cannot recommend the Castle Oaks enough. The grounds were spectacular. Food was excellent and all of our guests commented on how brilliant it was. The waiting staff had a rehearsed presentation of the food in synchronisation with each other, all in matching uniforms which was brilliant. The harpist in the hotel lobby was amazing, and set the tone and ambiance for all our guests as they arrived. Liam, Deirdre and Irene deserve special mention as they were very professional diligent, flexible and adaptable. It felt like we were dealing with family and their attention to detail was brilliant.  It was perfect.”
