Frances ‘Frankie’ Kelly and Michael ‘Myles’ O Loughlin’s relationship was one of friendship for many years before progressing into something more. During a romantic break away at Waterford Castle, Myles popped the question and the couple set their sights on a humanist ceremony at Falls Hotel in Clare on June 2, 2018.
Memorable moments
Frankie and Myles recall both their reception and ceremony in the Falls as particularly special. “We put the ceremony together ourselves with the help of our celebrant PJ, and it was very personal and unique for us and our guests. The champagne reception took place on the front lawn of the Falls Hotel overlooking the cascades, and was without question a breath-taking sight on a lovely summer afternoon,” Frankie adds.
Personal touches
The couple desired a day in which their family and loved one played a significant part in the celebrations and this was definitely achieved. Frankie’s daughter Kayleigh doubled as wedding coordinator and bridesmaid, family friend Breda played a vital role in making the wedding cake and the couple’s neighbours Pat and Christy drove the pair to the hotel in their own vintage cars. “My best man was my bride’s son Aaron, and our son John was a groomsman,” Myles recalls. Frankie’s oldest son Ian took the honour of walking his mother down the aisle, while her niece Danielle was a bridesmaid. “It was a real family occasion with our nearest and dearest around us,” Frankie adds.
Any advice for brides planning their wedding?
“Start in time, do your research and keep a cool head. Once you have your venue selected, follow the hotel’s running orders and timeline and all will fall in place. Most of all, enjoy the day because it will fly by. Before we knew it, it was all over and we were jetting off to sunny Sicily on our honeymoon!”
How was your experience with Falls Hotel?
“We had both our ceremony and reception in the Falls Hotel and it was all unquestionably flawless. Manager Patrick Kilbane and all of their staff were brilliant and all requests were taken care of with ease and no small detail was missed. From beautifully decorated staircases to the ceremony room arrangements, the venue looked stunning. They nailed our teal colour scheme right down to the stems of the champagne glasses. The service was fast and efficient, and the staff were more than helpful to us and all of our guests. Their welcoming service was noted by all who joined us on our special day.”
