A night out in Limerick brought Amanda Gardiner and Diarmuid Ryan together. “We met over 12 years ago, first setting eyes on each other on a night in Limerick while out for my sisters‘ birthday. Her long–term partner Grant and my husband are best friends since secondary school. I can’t remember who made the first move but we eventually got together and we haven‘t looked back since!”, remembers Amanda.
This beautiful love lead to an adorable proposal in Croatia. The couple were on holidays with their daughter Caitlin, and Amanda was 27 weeks pregnant with their second bundle of joy. They all went together for dinner for Amanda’s 30th birthday and had the gender of their baby in an envelope, which Caitlin opened at the dinner to reveal that they were going to have a baby boy! Diarmuid then surprised Amanda with a proposal and after the shock wore off, she pf course said yes.
The loved-up pair booked August 17, 2018 for their special day at the Limerick Strand Hotel.

“Walking into the ceremony, just feeling so happy and relaxed to marry my best friend in front of our family and friends. Also, having my two children there meant everything, we wanted to include them as much as possible. So many memorable moments but another one for me was that I had both my parents at hand to give me away”, remembers Amanda.
“Our children mean the world to us; they were fantastic on the day! It was a big party to celebrate and share the day with them from start to finish. Seeing Caitlin come in ahead of Amanda, I’ll never forget. Mícheál was only 11 months old and he was fantastic on the day”, Diarmuid said.
How was your experience with The Limerick Strand Hotel?
“Our hotel was absolutely fantastic; Aishling and Olivia were a pleasure to deal with. From our first meeting with Aishling, she was so thorough and reassuring about everything we discussed and we got a great vibe from her from the very beginning. Olivia took over looking after us while Aishling went on maternity leave and she was also exceptional to deal with. Any concerns I had closer to our wedding day, she calmed me down immediately and reiterated how there would be plenty of everything and it was perfect! The staff on the day were great, from the minute I stepped out of the car, they were at hand to take over and guide me to where I had to go and what I had to do as the ceremony was on in the hotel also. They kept checking in with us and ensured the guests did not have an empty glass in front of them during the meal and the service was top class. I cannot recommend them enough and we regularly have family events in the hotel and they are always a pleasure to deal with.”
