Dooradoyle native Karen Clark met Scottish man Matthew Clark while working in Toronto, Canada.
“We were both intrigued by each other’s accents and quickly became great friends”, the bride fondly recalls. The friendship soon turned into more, and it wasn’t long before the Limerick beauty and her handsome partner became engaged, all with the help of their furry friend, Tommy.
“It was a cold Saturday morning in early December and I was woken up by my beagle Tommy who had a note for me in his mouth. The note had the proposal on it, I couldn’t believe it in my sleepy trance! Needless to say, Matt arrived in and I said yes straight away, it was really lovely.”, the bride shares.
A wedding date was set for November 25, 2017 with a ceremony at St. Joseph’s Church followed by a beautiful reception at The Strand Hotel.

The bride’s top tips
- “You shouldn’t have to chase your suppliers under any circumstances.”
- “Get plenty sleep on the lead up as you do not want to be getting sick.”
- “If there are particular photos you want on the day I would write a list, I didn’t do this and should have.”
- “Finally, on the big day make sure to remember to top up your lipstick throughout the day..”
HOW WAS YOUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE STRAND HOTEL?
“The Strand were great right from the very beginning. The events coordinator was very professional and a pleasure to deal with. There was never a delay with communication from them and the whole process ran very smoothly. On the day the food was amazing, the service was brilliant and the hotel looked great.”
