Shannon native, Aimee Moloney, was taken by complete surprise when, then boyfriend, Greg Keane, also from Shannon, popped the big questions in Rome in 2016. The first evening in the Italian capital they went for a walk to the gardens at the Castle St Angelo. “That’s where Greg popped the question; the sun was just setting and it was so lovely. He had my stunning ring and told me he had been planning for almost a year. Afterwards we rang our daughters and family to tell them the amazing news and then found a quaint little street with restaurants and bars and had a few bottles of prosecco to celebrate,” shared Aimee, a nail technician, fondly.
Greg and Aimee started to plan their big day. September 22, 2018 was the date, Our Lady of the Wells Church, Clonmoney, Co.Clare was where they shared their I’Do’s and The Castle Oaks House Hotel in Castleconnell was where they celebrated with family and friends late into the night.
Aimee emotionally remembers some of her big moments of the day. “The first is when I got to the top of the aisle and I looked at my husband who had tears rolling down his left cheek. It was so beautiful and I’ll never forget his face. And my second favourite moment is doing our second dance with our two beautiful daughters Layla and Sadie. We danced to The Lumineers “Ho Hey”. Everyone joined in and it was just beautiful.”
Greg also has his own fond memories; “My favourite moment from the day was watching our daughters and my wife walking up the aisle. I was so happy and proud. My three girls just looked so beautiful and I’ll never forget that. My other favourite moment was cutting the cake; we were laughing and joking and getting ready to party the night away.”
Best piece of advice Aimee received was- “take a bit of time, just you and your husband, on the day of the wedding to take in the whole day as the day really does go by so fast.”
Aimee’s stunning dress was by dress designer Mikealla and the bridesmaid dresses were Dessy. The men were dressed to perfection by Esquire Menswear in Limerick. They got their wedding rings at Tadgh O’Flynn Jewellers and Kaspars from Black Diamond Photography took their pictures. Claire Heffernan sang them into their vows at the church in Ennis. Videographer Ben O’Sullivan captured their big day on camera and band Stagefright, along with DJ Sean O’Connor, played them straight into their marriage. Invitations were created by the team at McNamara Printers and Hair and Make Up Artist and her team, Catherine Hickey, provided all the hair and make up services on the wedding day. And Aimee found buying Brides of Limerick in the lead up to the wedding day a huge help with planning and finding suppliers.

How amazing was the Castle Oaks House Hotel?
“When myself and Greg got engaged we didn’t really know where we wanted to have our wedding reception. We had viewed three hotels before viewing the Castle Oaks and none of them were what we were looking for. As soon as we drove into the Castle Oaks we knew it was what we had imagined all along. The gardens were amazing, the old world look of the house….we just loved it. We met with Liam, the hotel manager, and he was amazing. We booked our big day there and then and from start to finish the Castle Oaks were amazing. They went above and beyond for us and it really put us at ease during the planning of our big day. On the day the service was amazing, food was amazing and everything looked so beautiful.” Castleoaks.ie
